IMPORTANT NOTE: due to the warm weather, we have decided to cancel tomorrows session. We look forward to welcome you back for the session on the May 31th.
Bureaucracy individualises suffering that is, in truth, collective. Is there a way to redistribute the weight our bodies silently carry? The letters are tangible, the impact on the bank account is visible, we see the damage our tax money causes within and outside of the borders, but how often do we make space to process the impact we carry psychologically?
This gathering is an attempt to recover from the various forms of ‘aanslagen’ that citizens periodically endure. Guided by writer and conversational therapist Maame Hammond and artist Santiago Pinyol, we will explore together the impact each of us carries individually, in order to address them collectively.
Through dialogue with each other, we’ll reveal how these aanslagen affect us and where the damage resides. By capturing this in metaphor, writing, and material engagement with government envelopes, we give shape to the weight placed upon us. Together, we can lay down part of the burden we feel and return it to sender.
